The Polish national team made a historic entry into the playoffs of the World Cup after 36 years. The actions of the Whites and Reds are accompanied, among other things, by volleyball players who play PlusLiga every day. Klemen Chebul, host of Asseco Resovia, commented on the achievements of Cheslav Mikhnevich’s wards.
The expansion of the PlusLiga from 14 to 16 teams has meant that the volleyball schedule, especially for those teams playing in European competition, is very tight, with teams often playing every two or three days.
Despite this, the players find time to watch the World Cup in Qatar, which is slowly entering the decisive phase. Recall that the Polish team started the fight at the World Cup in Group C, and a 0:0 draw with Mexico, a 2:0 victory with Saudi Arabia and a 0:2 defeat against Argentina ensured the promotion of Czesław Mihnevich’s wards from second place in the playoffs.
The match of the 1/8 finals of the World Cup will be the first match of the Polish national team in the final of the World Cup in 36 years. This is a big event in Polish football. Wojciech Szczesny played a big role in this promotion, reflecting two penalties in the match against Saudi Arabia and Argentina.
On Sunday, December 4, the white-reds will meet with France, that is, with the defenders of the title. There is nothing to hide, Tricolor are the favorites of this meeting, but in Qatar we have already seen surprises, such as the departure of Belgium or Germany.

About this year’s World Cup in Qatar, plusliga.pl spoke with Klemen Cheboul, owner of Asseco Resovia. Although Slovenia did not qualify for the World Cup, the volleyball player admitted that he is following what is happening in the Middle East.
We all live here that after 36 years Poland has left the group and finally qualified to the next stage of the World Cup. It’s nice that the Poles are also so passionate about this sport, - said the volleyball player.
In addition, the Slovenian admitted that he wishes Poland all the best. “Now they will play France, but anything is possible,” he said. When asked if he had a favorite to win the World Cup in Qatar, Chebul replied that it was Brazil.
