Poland will play on Wednesday to qualify from Group C of the World Cup. A possible advancement to the 1/8 finals will be a great success in itself, but the appetites grow with the food. Here are the best and worst possible scenarios for the red and white team to advance to the next World Cup.
The Polish national team will play on Wednesday a match against Argentina for qualification from Group C at the World Cup in Qatar. The wards of Cheslav Mikhnevich in meetings with Mexico and Saudi Arabia have so far scored four points and recorded a 2-0 balance.
After two rounds, Argentina are in second place in Group C with three points and a goal difference of 3:2. Right behind Albiceleste is Saudi Arabia, which has an equal number of points with Leo Messi and company, but with a difference of 2-3 goals.
Last place in Group C is occupied by Mexico, which has so far scored one point in the match with Poland and has a balance of 0:2. In this situation, each team has a chance to leave the group. It all depends on the results of the last round, which will take place on Wednesday, November 30th.

Poland’s exit from group C. All possible scenarios
On Twitter, many journalists shared an analysis of possible scenarios for the Poland-Argentina and Saudi Arabia-Mexico match, which was created by Wykop user “w ujek_stiopa”.
Win and draw against Argentina
The white-reds have very good chances for promotion. With the victory of the wards of Cheslav Mikhnevich over the national team of Argentina, the Poles take first place in group C.
It’s a bit more difficult with a draw, because of course we’re going out of the group, but with the possible victory of Saudi Arabia over Mexico, we are only second in the group.
Lost to Argentina
In this World Cup, the position of the group with the same number of points is affected by the goal difference, and then the classification of fair play. With the defeat to the national team of Argentina and the defeat to Mexico, the white-reds do not leave the group.
If Mexico draws with Saudi Arabia 0:0, Poland will not advance further until after a 0:4 defeat. With a draw 1:1, Byalo-Chervoni cannot lose 0:3 and 0:4. With a draw 2:2 or 3:3 in the meeting between Mexico and Saudi Arabia, Cheslav Mikhnevich’s wards do not leave the group if they lose to Argentina 0:3, 0:4 and 1:4.
With the loss to Argentina and the victory of Mexico, the situation is a little more complicated. In this scenario, we will definitely not move forward if we lose 4:0 or Mexico wins 4:0 or 4:1. The full schedule is on the chart below.
Who will we play with when we leave the band?
If the Polish team manages to qualify from the group, it will reach the 1/8 finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. 16 teams enter this stage, that is, two best teams from each group. So who can the Poles potentially hit and when and where will the matches be played?
-
1 place from gr. A - 2nd place from group B, 03/12/2022 - Khalifa International Stadium,
- 1 place from gr. C - 2nd place from group D, 03/12/2022 - Ahmed bin Ali Stadium,
-
1 place from gr. E - 2nd place from group F, 05/12/2022 - Al-Janoub Stadium,
-
1 place from gr. G - 2nd place from group C, 05/12/2022 - Stadium 974,
-
1 place from gr. B - 2nd place from group A, 04/12/2022 - Al-Bayt Stadium,
- 1 place from gr. D - 2nd place from group C, 04/12/2022 - Al-Tumama Stadium,

-
1 place from gr. H - 2nd place from group G, 06/12/2022 - Lusail Stadium.
Thus, if the Poles take first place in the group, they will be able to play in match number 2, i.e. with the second team of group D, and if they take second place, then Bialo-Chervoni will play in match number 6 with the first team. team of this group.
The situation in Group D after two rounds
Group D includes Tunisia, France, Australia or Denmark. Here, the French team, who have scored six points so far, are already confident of promotion and will probably leave the first place in the group, because their goal difference is 6:2. Second in the table is Australia with three points and a balance of 2:4. Denmark and Tunisia are third and fourth respectively with one point.
Things can still change in this group, but if Australia wins or draws with Denmark (when Tunisia loses to France), they will take second place in Group F and get into the first team of the “Polish group”.

Best Possible Scenario
The best possible scenario for Poland is to finish first in the group and Australia or Tunisia second, which would require a win over France and a draw between Australia and Denmark.
We met with Australia only once on September 7, 2010. We then lost 1:2. The only goal for Poland was scored by Robert Lewandowski. As for the Tunisian national team, the “white-reds” met with her four times, including two friendly matches, the last of which was in 1985. We beat the Tunisians three times and lost once.
Worst case scenario
Second place in the group
Apart from being eliminated from the World Cup, the worst-case scenario would be to finish second in Group C and face France in the round of 16, which needs no introduction. Byalo-Chervoni met France 16 times, once in the World Cup final. It was during the match for third place in 1982. We won that game 3-2.
In addition, we met the French four more times in the qualifying matches of the European Championship and did not win a single match, but drew twice. Of the 11 friendly matches, we won only two. The last time we met with France was in June 2011. We lost 0-1 after an own goal by Tomasz Jodłowec.
First place in the group
When leaving the first place in the group with the Danes, of course, face a more difficult scenario than with the Australians or Tunisians. As for the Danish national team, we met with it 23 times, 15 of them were friendly. Our record against the red-whites is eight wins, two draws and thirteen losses. We remember the last match on September 1, 2017, when, under Adam Navalka, we lost 0-4 in the World Cup qualifiers.
