With 36 degrees Celsius and almost cloudless skies - and these are forecasts - around 1 pm a woman in light clothes will feel above 44 degrees Celsius in the sun. A girl dressed in dark will roast at almost 60 degrees. If she chooses a neutral, for example, beige color of clothing, then the physiological temperature that she will withstand will be a little over 53 degrees Celsius. How can we know?
Biocalculator calculates important parameters
A Polish scientist has developed a system to estimate the temperature that a person feels, the amount of water lost by the body per hour, and the safe time to stay in the sun and in a shaded place.
- The climate calculator calculates all this, taking into account the temperature and humidity, wind speed and cloudiness, date, time and geographical location, - explains prof. Krzysztof Blazejczyk from the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The biocalculator also takes into account the color of clothing: light, neutral or dark. The differences are huge. And they concern not only physiologically perceived temperature.
A woman in white (light) clothes with the above parameters - we remind you: 36 degrees - will feel over 44 degrees in the sun, within an hour her body can lose almost 594 grams, or more than half a liter of water, and the heart rate in these conditions increases up to 102 beats per minute.
According to the MENEX 2005 model, the safe time in a sunny place is 101 minutes. This time is shortened when the girl is dressed in black. Under the same meteorological conditions - 36 degrees Celsius - the physiologically perceived temperature in a sunny place is 59.6 degrees, within an hour the body can lose more than 700 grams of water; safe time in the sun - 56 minutes (in a shaded place - 169).
For our safety in such tropical temperatures, of course, not only color matters. Remember: the skin and eyes need to be protected from the sun, the body needs to be moisturized.
A few examples of weather conditions are below.
Here’s what the physiologically perceived temperature promises
Katowice. In the forecast for July 20 at 13 - 33 degrees, wind speed 7 km / h (1.9 m / s), cloudiness 1/8 (in oktants), humidity 30%. With a nearly cloudless sky, in the case of a woman dressed in white, the perceived temperature in a sunny location is 41.2 degrees Celsius. If it turned out black or beige (neutral), respectively - 56.8 or 50 degrees.
Warsaw. Forecast for July 20 at 13 - 31 degrees, wind speed 14 km / h (3.8 m / s), cloudiness 1/8 (in octants), humidity 40%. The perceived temperature in a sunny location calculated by the bioclimatic calculator for a woman is: 38 degrees with light-colored clothes, 47.3 degrees with neutral-colored clothes and 54.4 degrees with black clothes.
Gdansk. July 20 at 13 - forecast 29 degrees, wind speed 7 km / h (1.9 m / s), cloudiness 1/8 (in oktants), humidity 50%. The perceived temperature is a sunny place, calculations for a woman are 36.8 degrees with light clothes, 46.1 degrees with neutral clothes, 53.2 degrees with black clothes.
