Russian troops, trying to reach the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, are wiping out settlements in the Donbass. But they will not stop - they will go to Kharkov or to the south.
This opinion was expressed in an interview with the founder of the Internet publication “GORDON” Dmitry Gordon by Colonel of the SBU, People’s Deputy Roman Kostenko.
Kostenko is now defending Ukraine in the south and knows the situation at the front, noting that the Russians constantly want to improve their positions in the Kharkov region.
“Kharkov is a strategically and historically important city for them. They want to take him on. I don’t think it will be right tomorrow, but Russia has come here for a long time. Gradually, they will persuade Ukraine to negotiate, and then move on,” - says Kostenko.
Cyborg notes that in Ukraine, Russia wanted to show how strong the Russian army is.
“They wanted to show how in two days they capture the largest territory of the country in Europe. And already from these positions to conduct its terrorist international policy and thus influence the whole of Europe both energetically and militarily. The countries of the past Warsaw Pact remember how it was and understand that they can be next,” - notes the people’s deputy.
He is sure that it is impossible to negotiate with the Russians now, when so many Ukrainian territories have been seized. This will be a strategic mistake.
“You can’t negotiate with a country that pushed you through, is stronger and has a lot of resources. It’s just a waste of time and an opportunity for the enemy to regroup. Either the Russians will immediately take up defense in the Donbass and go either to Kharkov or to the south. I have no doubt that they will go further, because they believe that they lost face when the Armed Forces of Ukraine stopped them at the lines where they are now. Kostenko emphasized.
Recall that Kharkiv is constantly under fire from the Russians. The city is full of destruction. The authorities are urging residents to stay in shelters unless absolutely necessary. On the morning of July 20, Putin’s monsters again struck at one of the districts of the city, wounded.
