A unique series of films about health from the University of Bialystok

Medicine and pharmacy is one of the fastest growing areas of science. Every day new theories are being formulated, which makes many popular questions related to our health incomprehensible to us. Antibodies, antioxidants, cohort studies and many other issues will be addressed by scientists from the Medical University of Bialystok. In a simple and accessible way, they will present the topics they work on every day in their laboratories. The main goal of the Now I Know - Informative Film Series project is to present popular medical issues in a way that is understandable to people outside the health sciences.

“Two Faces of Oxygen”

Oxygen is the most abundant element on Earth. Although high levels of oxygen are necessary for respiration and other physiological processes, they can damage the organs and systems of living organisms. The toxic effect of this element is also due to reactive oxygen species, which are formed as by-products in numerous metabolic processes. During the film, you will learn about oxygen free radicals, oxidative stress, and whether their harmful effects can be prevented. Should You Use Antioxidants?

After the broadcast of the episode, the authors invite you to a short online quiz with attractive prizes to test the knowledge gained in the film.
