The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has made an official statement regarding the decision of the Tbilisi City Court to reject the petition of the defense of Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili for a reprieve or release from punishment due to his serious health condition.
Ukrainian diplomats urged the Georgian authorities to immediately stop settling political scores with the Ukrainian citizen, guarantee the observance of his rights and transfer him to Ukraine.
“The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry will continue to protect the interests of Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili, who should be fired,” according to an official statement published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Saakashvili himself, who previously publicly bequeathed to bury his heart in Ukraine, stated that he was a special prisoner not of the Georgian authorities, but of the Russian dictator Putin.
“I am Putin’s personal prisoner. On his orders, they poisoned me, tortured me and continue to mock me. But the end of Putin and the empire is closer than ever.” he said in a Facebook post.
At the same time, the politician clearly admitted that the Georgian court practically sentenced him to death.
Recall that Saakashvili was arrested in Georgia in early October 2021, when he arrived to support the participation of his party in the municipal elections. In protest against the illegality of the actions of the authorities, he went on a hunger strike, which lasted 50 days and had a catastrophic effect on the health of the ex-president.
