After the terrible earthquake in Turkey, six Ukrainians did not get in touch, because of which their relatives in Ukraine were very worried. Fortunately, by the seventh morning, the embassy had established contact with six compatriots.
Oleg Nikolenko, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, wrote about this on Facebook.
According to him, there are no threats to the lives of Ukrainians. Some people’s houses were destroyed. They settled with Turkish relatives. The consul keeps in touch with them.
Subsequently, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Turkey Vasily Bondar said on the air of the Public that the number of Ukrainians who got in touch increased to nine.
“About 18 people have not been contacted yet. First of all, this is due to the fact that there is no communication with the Hatay region - this is the epicenter of the earthquake itself,” added the diplomat.
Bondar added that now the embassy is trying to look for contacts of Ukrainians because of those who travel to these zones or through business organizations that could have their communications there.
