Hackers from the Anonymous group have successfully completed another operation aimed at Russia. This time, the group plundered data on illegal spying on the citizens of the state.
With the outbreak of war in Ukraine, the Anonymous Collective organized further actions against the regime of Vladimir Putin. This time, the group managed to seize 128 GB of data indicating illegal surveillance of ordinary Russians.
Anonymous adorned with Russia’s secret data - this is the Green Atom project
Hackers attacked the Russian Internet provider Convex. As a result of the actions of the CAXXII group, which is part of the “anonymous” collective, more than 128 GB of data was captured. The information obtained points to the mysterious Green Atom project, in which the FSB was most likely involved.
The FSB of the Russian Federation was supposed to illegally track the citizens of its country. Anonymous claim that the files contain evidence of the installation and maintenance of equipment to track and monitor Russian online activity. The espionage was also to include phone tracing and included private companies operating within the country.
Russia Spies on Citizens - Thousands of People Are Listening
The resulting data contains information about thousands of organizations that have used Convex services. The files also show that the seemingly independent ISP has close ties to Russian intelligence.
- This can be qualified as espionage, unauthorized installation of wiretapping and surveillance of civilians without a court order. [FSB] Bypassed Russian law and acted contrary to all public assurances from the Russian authorities, the Anonymous hackers added in an email sent to the Kyiv Post.
What’s more, Anonymous suggests he has a few more tricks up his sleeve. Hackers, apparently, have not yet disclosed all the data obtained during the last action. They add that the information is intended to shed new light on the working methods of the FSB and its intelligence capabilities.
