“Our children are not fertilizer!”: the number of detainees in the protesting Makhachkala went to hundreds

Must read

In different regions of Russia, mass protests against the so-called “shared mobilization” continue. Over 2,000 people, including women, were detained in five days.

On Sunday, September 25, the most stubborn action took place in Dagestan.

It all started in the village of Endirey, Khasavyurt district. About 8000 people live here. Approximately 100 men received the summons. Residents blocked the federal highway Khasavyurt - Makhachkala. Police fired shots into the air and tried to disperse the protesters. According to the district authorities, a military commissar came to the residents. The official version is as follows: “the demonstrators thanked the leaders and dispersed to their places of residence.”

However, the actual events were quite different. The women of Andrey shouted in the face of the military man: “You are afraid for your positions, and we are afraid for our sons!” The demonstrators had to be dispersed by force.

Meanwhile, a mass action began in the center of Makhachkala. Mostly women gathered at the Puppet Theater. It is difficult to give an exact number of participants. Local publics claim that more than 30 thousand people have signed up. Much fewer people came, but it was the largest protest action in the republic in recent years.

“Mothers with children, representatives of the adult generation, youth gathered”- reports the Dagestan edition “Chernovik”.

People were chanting “No war!”, “No mobilization!” and “Our children are not fertilizer!”

Women were not afraid to argue with the police. “It was Russia that attacked Ukraine. We are not blind! they said.

The women first asked the police not to interfere with the protest. When the security forces tried to detain one of the protesters, the rest resisted. One of the police officers had to flee.

After that, the security forces began to act with demonstrative cruelty. Several men were beaten and taken to the department. One of them was beaten in the face by a police officer while the demonstrator was led by the arms of other officers. Women were also beaten and roughly pushed.

The demonstrators tried to fight off their own and even attacked paddy wagons. The policemen were beaten up. By evening, the security forces had to mobilize reinforcements. The National Guard has arrived.

Law enforcement officers used stun guns and pepper spray, “twisted people and pushed women away with particular cruelty,” OVD-Info reports. But it didn’t help. Then the police started firing into the air.

They took everyone around. Among the detainees was the mother of the newborn. As of the morning of September 26, more than 100 people were detained in Makhachkala.

The situation in the region is heated to the limit. The head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, tried to calm people down. He acknowledged that mistakes were made at the beginning of the mobilization and promised to look into all cases when those who were not supposed to be taken were called. We are talking about students, parents with many children and other categories. However, the inhabitants of the republic no longer trust the authorities.

There were also protests in other regions of Russia on September 25. In Yakutsk, about 400 people, mostly women, led the traditional Yakut round dance osuokhay around the police. They chanted: “Let our children live!”. The action stopped when the arrests began.

In Nalchik (Kabardino-Balkaria) a protest took place on Concorde Square in front of the government building. A video quickly circulating on social media shows an elderly woman saying: “I won’t give up my husband, I won’t give up even if they shoot me!”

The arson of military registration and enlistment offices has been restored. In Ust-Ilimsk, Irkutsk region, a man opened fire in the military enlistment office. Several people were wounded, including the military commissar, who is in intensive care.

Recall that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called on Russian men not to submit to criminal mobilization - to flee or surrender to Ukrainian captivity at the first opportunity. Otherwise, they will return home in black plastic bags, because Ukrainians will not feel sorry for anyone who came to kill our land.
