The latest in Disney’s hugely successful line of live-action remakes, Ariel (Holly Bailey) is set to return to theaters for the first time in almost thirty-five years since Mermaid (2023). The Walt Disney Company is once again inviting viewers to take a sea voyage to see the story of Princess Ariel unfold like never before. Under the guidance of an experienced music director Rob Marshall and other roles populated by major Hollywood stars such as Melissa McCarthy like the sea witch Ursula and Javier Bardem like King Triton, the film is sure to be a real hit at the box office.

While the upcoming and highly anticipated film will have some tough competition with two stand-up comedians on the weekend it releases, Mermaid destined to show that life is better where the water is wetter in this summer movie season. As in the original 1989 film, Mermaid will be released exclusively in theaters on May 26. This is good news for Disney fans, as not every live-action remake has been released in theaters. Disney recently released another critically acclaimed live-action remake Peter Pan and Wendybut this return to Neverland didn’t hit theaters and arrived via live streaming on Disney+.

When will The Little Mermaid air?

No wonder that Mermaid no doubt coming to Disney+ later as the mass streaming service has become the one-stop-shop for all Disney-related content. And yet the question remains When expected rethinking Mermaid will be released on Disney+. Well, usually for Disney theatrical releases like their new animated films like Strange world and recent entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe such as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania, they typically arrive on Disney+ about ninety days after the theatrical release begins. This means that we can assume that Mermaid will be available to stream on Disney+ sometime in late August 2023 or early September 2023.

Disney+ currently has two individual subscription options for those who don’t already have access to the popular streaming platform. The first individual option is the Basic plan, which offers the entire Disney+ library with limited ads for $7.99 per month. The second individual option is the Premium plan, which completely removes ads from the service and allows you to download individual titles for offline viewing, all for $10.99 per month.

There are also three Disney Bundle options that combine Hulu and/or ESPN+ into an all-in-one collection. The first is Duo Basic, which includes basic options for Disney+ and Hulu with ads for $9.99/month. Then there’s Trio Basic, which is similar to Duo Basic but with ESPN+ included and costs $12.99/month. Finally, your best bet is Trio Premium, which removes ads from Disney+ and Hulu (but not ESPN+) and allows you to download select titles for offline use for $19.99/month.

When will The Little Mermaid be on DVD and Blu-ray?

Late summer and early fall are also likely release dates. Mermaid for Blu-Ray and DVD, though no specific date or schedule is currently given. As for the VOD release, the film will most likely be available digitally in the weeks leading up to the inevitable $20 streaming release.

Main trailer for Mermaid comes chock-full of all the iconic visuals you’d expect to see in an adaptation of your favorite story. Ariel saves Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King), mourning being a part of the human world and making a reluctant deal with the sea witch Ursula. It’s all in the spotlight so that eager fans are ready to relive this magical story all over again.
