No, we don’t see Wang come up with the idea of a card game on screen, but during their Force Collider interview, Hewson seemed pretty convinced that Wang was behind it. Here’s what they said when asked if this way of choosing a victim was Wang’s idea:

“Like I know. It’s an episode that I haven’t seen the finished version of, but it’s like, “We can’t decide, the wilderness decides,” cut, right? So she thought about it. She thought about it a lot. And it’s like she doesn’t listen to what any of them say because she doesn’t care because she knows what they should be doing. She’s like, “No, you’re all acting like kids. It’s so beyond any decision We do. It’s obvious what’s going to happen now. So she thought about it and presented it to the group as inevitable because it seems inevitable to her because in a larger psychological sense it is. So with that in mind, routine cards are what they’ve all been doing for so long. I do. I think it was her idea. Because when you switch to her and she holds them, it’s not like, “Oh, what do I do now?” She’s like, “No, those are the rules.”

With a mindset like that, it makes sense that Wang doesn’t flinch when Natalie (Sophie Thatcher) chooses a death card and Shona intervenes to kill it. But what if Taissa took the lady of worms out of all people? Would Wang be just as eager to see things through to the end? Hewson immediately replied, “No.”Kevin Alves) in this situation? Would she intervene to stop the ritual if Thaissa’s life was in danger? Here’s what Hewson said:

“I don’t know. I really have no idea what could have happened. And I don’t think Van knows. In acting out this scene, Taissa shows her and no one else, and it’s done on purpose. And it was just a relief, really It’s like, “Oh, okay, I don’t really need to think about it,” because I don’t think she’s ready for it.”
