The CW previously reported that Walker prequel series Walker: Independence closes the store as the network canceled the series after just one season. The news comes just over two months after the series aired in early March. WITH Walkerthe success of The CW, including its recent update, Walker: Independence was like a run in for a resumption. Star Katherine McNamara also told Collider’s Perry Nemiroff in an interview conducted the day before the news of the cancellation that if the show had been renewed for season 2, it would have dived much deeper into the stories introduced in season 1.
In an interview, Nemiroff asked McNamara about waiting to hear about a potential update and how McNamara approached it given the changing landscape of television. McNamara mentions the change, acknowledging that she has a “humble” attitude towards renewals and cancellations. However, she remains proud of the work she has put into the series.
“You know, specifically this year, I knew things are changing on The CW, things are changing on television in general. And there are so many options and possibilities and unorthodox ways that shows stay, go on, get cancelled, get updated somewhere completely elsewhere. I’ve become so humble when it comes to things like this, I just leave it up to the TV gods. I said, “You know what? I put my heart and soul into this show, I had a great time with this crew.”

McNamara added that Walker: Independence “barely touched the tip of the iceberg” in regards to its characters. There are currently no confirmed plans to sell the show elsewhere, but McNamara has stated that she and the rest of the team are “biting at the bit” to continue. In addition, she admits that there was a possibility of cancellation then, but she would like to continue the story. Walker: Independencestory.
“It’s so much that Walker: Independence there is the spirit of this city, which for us includes our team, our writers and everyone else. So, moving forward, I hope for the best, but in the end what has to happen will happen. But I mean, if I could go back and be back on the 15,000-acre ranch playground with this amazing group of people, I’d give my left leg for it.”
