Piast Gliwice has received a license to participate in PKO BP Ekstraklasa in the 2023/24 season. The PZPN Club License Appeals Committee placed several conditions on the club.
A few weeks ago, Piast Gliwice issued a notice that the club had not received a license to play in PKO BP Ekstraklasa for the upcoming season. The Licensing Committee made this decision due to the club’s failure to fulfill financial obligations to former coach Valdemar Fornalik. The authorities of the Gliwice team announced an appeal in this case, and the answer came quickly enough.

The Board of Appeal for Club Licenses of the Polish Football Association read out a letter from Piast to Gliwice. After consideration of the application, it was decided to restore the team’s admission to play in PKO BP Ekstraklasa in the upcoming season. Despite this, the club will have to fulfill several conditions in advance, without which this will not be possible.
First, get financial and infrastructural oversight. The second is the lack of permission for the club to participate in UEFA competitions in the 2022/23 season, and the third is a financial penalty. Here is the full text of the announcement:
1. Recognize the fulfillment by Piast Gliwice of criterion F.04 of the Ekstraklas Club Licensing Guidelines for the 2023/2024 season. and amend Decision No. /2024 granting the club a license to host Ekstraklas games in the 2023/2024 season. and infrastructure supervision;
2. To uphold decision no. 18 of the PZPN Club Licensing Committee regarding the failure to grant Piast Gliwice a license for UEFA club games in the 2023/2024 season;
3. The imposition of a control measure on Piast Gliwice in the form of an obligation to pay an amount of PLN 10,000 for violation of the discipline of the licensing process.
