Horror fans are eating well these days as a slew of classic franchises are back at the center of pop culture conversations. This includes everyone’s favorite killer doll, Chucky, recently seen on his successful Syfy series of the same name. To celebrate the franchise, Scream Factory is gradually releasing Chucky movies in 4K for the first time. Now the famous boutique label has unveiled its new 4K editions of the last four Chucky records.

These new 4Ks include Bride of Chucky, Offspring of Chucky, Curse of ChuckyAnd Cult of Chucky with three different editions to choose from. First, each film will receive a Standard Collector’s Edition with a classic poster cover for $38.98. If you pre-order on the Scream Factory website, the releases will also come with posters in the same design. However, if you Chucky devoted fan, there will be two more expensive editions. The first one includes additional Devon Whitehead art covers, eight posters and a retro sticker featuring Chucky and Tiffany. This edition will cost $150. However, if you want even more, the latest most expensive package includes both covers for each movie, a prism sticker, a set of enamel pins, trading cards, and eight posters. This expensive edition will cost $223.98. Movie accessibility features not yet announced, but Seed, CurseAnd Cult of Chucky will include both rated and unrated versions.

Heritage Chucky Sequels

While Chucky the franchise is one of the most popular among the horror community, later sequels have been occasional. Bride of Chucky started a new era for the series, deftly discarding Child Game a name to focus on the most ginger toy of death. This fourth film introduced Chuckythe most popular supporting character, Tiffany Valentine, played by the incredible Jennifer Tilly over the past 25 years. Chucky’s crazy ex leaned the show more towards a horror comedy, which worked for Bride but too deep into this new perspective for Seed. It was the first direct-to-DVD release of the series and allowed the novice creator and director Don Mancini roam with the universe. This resulted in Chucky and Tiffany having their own puppet baby named Glen/Glenda, who was ahead of her time in terms of LGBTQ+ representation in movies. It was Seedthe film’s most valuable aspect, but overall the film was too big for most viewers to get hooked on.

This brings us to the last two films in the series, which are back to basics. Curse acted like a fun gothic haunted house thriller while Cult was this disturbing story about a lunatic asylum in the spirit of flying over Cuckoo’s Nest. Chucky’s version will return to the big screen at MGM in 2019. Child Game a remake, but then again, it was too far removed from the original series to get any support despite decent reviews. This will allow Chucky to make a grand comeback on his Syfy series, which will return for a third season later this year. The series has so far been a perfect blend of the original horror style. Child Game and more comedic style Bride.
