Amazon Freevee has made headway with its pseudo-documentary reality TV series Jury and social networks have found a new hero in Ronald Gladden - an ordinary citizen plunged into what he considered a real court, but in fact it was staged, filled to the brim with improvisational actors and a hilarious caricature of James Marsden (ur.from Notebook). In an interview with Variety, the producers of the show David Bernard And Todd Shulman have not ruled out a second series of the new comic hit.
Speaking to Variety, Schulman said the show is “an endlessly repeatable core concept, that core element of the show that we could potentially replicate in other worlds. I do think there are possibilities, but we haven’t gotten too deep into it yet. .” With the exception of Marsden, who plays the exaggerated diva persona of his true self, every person in Jury who his protagonist Gladden interacts with are not who he thinks he is, they are all actors portraying fictional characters in a fictional court scenario. Except that Gladden thinks everything is real - it’s a series of plots and plotlines that Collider describes as a combination of The Truman Show And Office. The shining light of the show, as evidenced by the countless clips posted on social media, is that Gladden, unaware of the fakery surrounding him, is a genuine, honest and selfless person who makes Jury the journey of a lovable hero that viewers must follow. It’s easy to see why and how Schulman wanted to recreate this in season 2, with new characters, a new script paired with yet another celebrity caricature and an unsuspecting everyday hero.
Bernard describes how not only the show’s premise but also the setting can be recreated; “One of the original premise of the show was that it was a jury trial, but we pitched it like every day you’re on trial, every day you’re faced with situations and opportunities to make a decision. “I think we can take the same theme and premise and apply it to other areas outside of the jury.” Jury were supposed to find a second life outside of the courtroom, Bernard and Shulman are well placed to realize it. Before teaming up to create a show, each of the executive producers boasts a lot of impressive credits. Shulman collaborated with Sacha Baron Cohen on Who is America? and executive producer Borate And bruno. Bernard has been an executive producer of high-profile dramas such as White Lotusaction hits like unknown and developed his mockumentary skills through Supermarket. The Jury has an audience rating of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, Shulman and Bernard would benefit from putting their impressive expertise to the concept a second time.
