In Kyiv, where unknown persons recently shot up a lawyer’s car, a man tried to rob a 12-year-old girl on Khreshchatyk. The Shevchenkovsky District Court of the capital sentenced him. This was reported to the Kyiv police.
“The intruder noticed little volunteers playing musical instruments to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, followed them and tried to tear off a small backpack in which money was collected from their shoulders. Now, for the crime committed, the attacker will spend the next 6 years and 8 months behind bars. In September last year, the Kyiv police received a message on special line 102 that an unknown person was trying to rob a young girl on Khreshchatyk Street. Then an investigative team and local police officers worked on the spot.”– the message says.
As the head of the Shevchenko police department, Igor Padyuk, said, law enforcement officers established that children in the city center were playing musical instruments and collecting funds in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“At that time, a man noticed them and then decided to follow them. Approaching the 12-year-old girl, the attacker tried to rip off the backpack containing the money from her shoulder. However, passers-by noticed his actions and quickly stopped the attacker and handed him over to us.”– he added.
Under the procedural leadership of the Shevchenko District Prosecutor’s Office, investigators informed the defendant of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 15, part 4 art. 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – attempted robbery during martial law. Subsequently, the indictment was sent to the court along with the materials of the criminal proceedings.
“During the trial, the man partially admitted his guilt in the incriminated crime. In particular, he argued that he did not intend to rob the child. By the verdict of the Shevchenkovsky District Court of the city of Kyiv, the man was found guilty of the incriminated crime and sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison,” the police said.
As FACTS wrote, earlier law enforcement officers exposed criminals from the Zhytomyr region who started selling ghost cars for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
