In 2004 Scrubs star Zach Braff made his big break in the world of filmmaking with critical and commercial hit independent drama garden state. It wasn’t until ten years later that he released his next film. Wish I could be here. He’s since dipped his toes into mainstream directing like the 2017 remake Walk in style, and episodes of popular shows such as Ted Lasso And Decrease. For his next film, Braff appears to be returning to his more dramatic and personal roots.
Braff’s last film. Good man, focuses on a struggling young woman, Allison, who is painstakingly trying to piece together the falling apart pieces of her life. Allison used to have everything; a devoted fiancé, a promising career, and a close-knit circle of family and friends. However, when Allison suffers a tragic accident that tears her family apart, her ideal life quickly declines. In the years following the tragedy, Allison struggles with unresolved grief and recovers from her opioid addiction. On this journey, she strikes up an unlikely friendship with her would-be father-in-law, who, it turns out, may be the only person who can help her move forward.
Florence Pugh (Don’t worry dear) plays a struggling Allison and a critically acclaimed, award-winning actor. Morgan Freeman plays her would-be father-in-law Daniel. They join Molly Shannon (Saturday night life) as Diana, Chinaza Uche (Dickinson) as fiance Allison Nathan, Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife) as Daniel Ryan’s granddaughter, and Zoe Lister-Jones (Adhesive plaster) as Simone.

When will a good man come to cinemas?
We have good news for movie fans around the world: movie rental company MGM recently announced that Good man will be available in cinemas worldwide on March 24, 2023.

Is a good person available to stream?
We currently do not have specific news on when and where Good man will be available for viewing in the US. However, MGM, the film’s distributor, leads us to speculate that there could be two ways to stream. Good man in the US when the time comes.
The first option will most likely be through Hulu MGM’s online channel, available to all US residents with any Hulu plan starting at $7.99 per month. The second option is likely to be through Amazon Prime Video, as it was announced last year that MGM was partnering with Prime Video and Amazon Studios. Prime Video is available with any Amazon Prime membership starting at $14.99 per month.
In the United Kingdom, after its theatrical release, Good man will be available to stream on the Sky Cinema Channel via Sky Go on April 28, 2023. For existing Sky customers, there are many plans offering Sky Cinema that can be purchased as an add-on starting at £11 per month.

MGM has released a trailer Good man on his official YouTube channel on December 15, 2022. It’s safe to say that the film features one of the most famous voices in the world on the cast list. At the beginning of the trailer, Morgan Freeman as Daniel can be heard talking about his family’s idyllic life before the accident as a montage of happy moments plays out. We learn that Daniel has a fascination with model trains, comparing his miniature village to his own world experience. He explains that in his community, “neighbors are always kind” and “lovers always end up together” as Allison and Nathan, in happier times, see them enjoy gathering family and friends.
All too soon, however, this perfect resume takes an impossibly bleak turn. Brief scenes from the tragic accident are shown, and Daniel is seen answering a heartbreaking phone call, explaining in voice-over that “in life, of course, everything is not so clean and tidy.” In addition, in the trailer, we learn more about what happened during the fateful incident, as well as the consequences that the previously happy family is currently suffering from. A man at a local bar asks Allison if she is engaged to Nathan and she replies that she “was”. The man tells Allison that he heard about the accident, and she explains that the woman who didn’t make it was supposed to be her daughter-in-law. This untimely death, as was to be expected, tore the family apart. Daniel is seen to have a strained relationship with his surviving son, Nathan, as well as turning to alcohol, and Allison struggling with an opioid addiction. Separately, the couple decide they need help and end up attending the same support meeting. Although Allison initially tries to run away from her would-be father-in-law, the two gradually begin to reconcile and Allison realizes that Daniel may just be the mentor she needs to help her move forward.
Good man looks like a realistic and often humorous take on grief, addiction, and giving yourself a second chance.
