The owner of Gadu-Gadu hopes that the communicator, famous at the beginning of this century, will soon find a second life. New features will help with this.
The popularity of the Gadu-Gadu communicator reached its peak at the beginning of the 21st century, in recent years it has been much lower, and many Internet users were even convinced that the communicator no longer exists. Not only does it exist, but over time it should even acquire some kind of second life.
Gadu Gadu with new features
Fintecom, which has owned Gadu-Gadu since 2018, is counting on this. The tool will still be used for communication, but it will also be enriched with new features. We are talking, among other things, for a tool for quick payments or audio-video calls.
– We count not only on nostalgia and memories of returning users, but also on new ones, thanks to future functionality, for example. P2P payments, audio-video calls and more - says Agnieszka Remus, President of Fintecom, in an interview with Puls Biznesu.
If the company’s plans come true, Gadu-Gadu could become a serious competitor to the Meta-owned messengers, especially when convenient payments become possible.
Fintecom wants to raise funds for the development of Gadu-Gadu through a crowdfunding fundraiser. The company intends to implement it in the second half of this year, the amount of which has not yet been determined.
As Puls Biznesu recalls, last year the company’s revenue amounted to almost PLN 4 million, of which approx. - answered Gad-Gad. According to Fintecom, the messenger is currently used by about half a million users a month, of which more than 50 percent are people under 25 years old. In its heyday, Gadu-Gadu was used by up to 7 million internet users. It is worth noting that thousands of small and medium-sized companies across the country still use Gadu-Gadu as an internal communicator. The paid version with more features and no ads has 18,000 downloads. users.
