I feel cheated by Orlen and the ruling party because in previous months I paid too much for petrol compared to what I should have paid,” Ryszard Petru, the former head of Novochesna, told Radio Zet.

Ryszard Petru, economist, former Novochesna leader and current head of the Institute for Liberal Thought, was a guest on Radio Zet on Tuesday. One of the topics of conversation was fuel prices, which, despite the increase in VAT, did not rise. When asked if he would thank Daniel Obaitek for this, Petru admitted that he had “huge claims” against him.

“It can’t be that Kaczynski and Obaitek set prices”

“He is a state oligarch. Exactly the same thing is happening in Russia, that is, state-owned companies finance Putin’s campaigns. It can’t be that Kaczynski and Obaitek set prices at gas stations - Peter said.

According to the former politician, the president of PiS and the head of Orlen meet in a larger group and determine strategies, knowing that the Poles are “very sensitive to fuel prices.”

Petru stressed that in recent months PKN Orlen had set too high fuel prices for Poles. – I am convinced that he did it deliberately so that we would not have this promotion – said the economist.

“I feel cheated by Orlen and the ruling party, because in previous months I paid too much for gasoline compared to what I should have paid,” he concluded. Peter.

Petru offers 500 plus for staying in the job market

The interview also raised the issue of retirement age. Yesterday, at a press conference, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki recalled that 10 years have passed since the government of Donald Tusk extended the retirement age (several years ago, the PiS government restored the old retirement age). According to Petru, this is “an obvious start to the election campaign.” The former leader of Novochesna emphasized that the decision of the Tusk government in this matter was correct, although, in his opinion, such a reform should have been carried out differently. Petru proposed that people of retirement age receive an additional PLN 500 for each additional year of professional activity for staying in the labor market.

- I would like to show that the retirement age needs to be raised, but this can be done with the help of financial incentives - for each additional year of work, the pension will be higher by 500 zł per month. So that we all do not live on a beggarly level of pensions - explained to Peter.

Petru, finance minister?

When asked if he could become finance minister in a possible government of Donald Tusk, Petru replied: “Yes”, although, as he noted, “I do not intend to give up my views, and here I see big differences.”
