Service points for residents of Krakow will be open until 15:30. This will save electricity. Service points in three shopping centers will work longer. They can solve most official cases.
Offices must conserve energy so that heating and lighting costs do not exceed the budget. Changing light bulbs to energy efficient ones and turning off the lights as the last person out of the room is obvious, but these solutions are not enough.
The city of Krakow has announced that the opening hours of residents’ service points will be reduced. Officials decided that there was no better way to save money than to close three service points at 15:30 (at 10 Powstania Varshavskogo St., 2 Zgody Usadba St. and 28a Wieliczka St.).. The announcement of the city administration does not hide the fact that the reason for the reduction of working hours is the need to reduce electricity consumption.
This does not mean that the residents of Krakow will have to take time off from work to attend to official business. Most of the services can be obtained from residents’ service points in shopping centers (Galeria Bronowice, Galeria Bonarka City Center, Galeria Serenada), which are open from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00.
At points in shopping malls you can, for example. check-in and check-out, apply for an identity card, submit documents related to vehicle registration. A complete list of tasks performed by officials in retail outlets can be found at krakow.pl. What is very important, you cannot pick up your ID-card at these service points. This is only possible at service points, which will have shorter opening hours in the coming months.
The law obliges officials to save energy
In order to reassure residents who may be annoyed by the decision of the city authorities to reduce working hours, officials in a communiqué recalled that the Law of October 7, 2022 on special decisions to protect consumers of electricity in 2023, due to the situation on the electricity market, obliges public institutions to reduce energy consumption .

“Who does not fulfill this obligation in accordance with Art. 38 of this Law is punishable by a fine of up to PLN 20,000. zloty. Heads of public finance departments submit an energy savings report to the chair of the Energy Regulatory Authority by March 31 of the year following the year covered by the obligation.
