The last stage of construction of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline has been completed. The Polish operator, the GAZ-SYSTEM company, showed a recording of a key moment.
On July 21, Baltic Pipe officially connected Poland and Denmark. GAZ-SYSTEMS and Energinet announced the completion of the construction of a key part of the project. Now the Polish operator has shown a recording of the last moments of work. The operation consisted of welding an approximately 90-meter connector, thanks to which we connected the onshore gas pipeline to the offshore gas pipeline in a previously prepared open trench.
Baltic Pipe connects Poland and Denmark
The published recording shows the completion of the final welds connecting the offshore gas pipeline to the Polish transmission system at Pogorzelice. Subsequent work will be aimed at bringing the construction site to its natural state. Gas injection from the Norwegian shelf is scheduled for October 1.
- Today we can say that the offshore gas pipeline Baltic Pipe is technically an element of the national transport system. Thanks to these investments, we have integrated the gas networks of Poland and Denmark, creating a new gas supply corridor to the region of Central and Eastern Europe. We still have commissioning and gasification ahead of us, and then the transmission will begin on the scheduled date, that is, on October 1 this year. - said Tomas Stempen, President of GAZ-SYSTEM, on the day of the unification of the gas pipeline.
“The Baltic Pipe project is one of the largest infrastructure investments in the country. The European Commission has awarded the investment the status of “Project of General Interest”. The project received financial support from the European Union under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).” - stated in the message GAZ-SYSTEMS.
