Almost PLN 900 million for a protective breakwater in Gdansk

Rafal Weber, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, announced the adoption of the bill at a press conference. Investments are required for the construction of a floating gas terminal in Gdansk, i.e. project, which should improve the gas security of Poland. This will allow more liquefied gas carriers from the US or Qatar to be received.

- The second project adopted today by the Council of Ministers is a draft resolution on the creation of a long-term program called “Construction of a protective breakwater in the port of Gdansk.” We allocate almost PLN 900 million for these investments - This was stated by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Rafal Weber at a press conference after the meeting of the Council of Ministers. - It will be implemented in connection with another investment, which is the construction of a regasification and liquefied natural gas plant in the Gulf of Gdansk. A breakwater is required to run this unit. This is another element of improving the energy security of the country - added the deputy minister.

It was also pointed out that an additional effect of the construction was to be the possibility of transferring the traffic of large passenger ships to Gdansk. This should increase the tourist and recreational potential of the Tri-City. It will also limit the growing navigational risk in the Baltic Sea, the rationale says.
