Fuzzy rules, increased operating costs
- The above data may cause concern. For several years now, we have been observing unfavorable changes in the legal and tax environment for doing business in Poland. In 2022, the business sector is additionally negatively affected by constant changes in taxes, for example, the Polish order and subsequent amendments to it. These factors have a negative impact on the functioning of small and medium-sized enterprises, which, in turn, may contribute to an increase in the number of closures of enterprises, comments tax adviser Natalia Stoch-Mika.
Restructuring adviser and legal adviser Lukasz Goszczynski said the statistics are affected by the new tax burden imposed by the Polish government. - There are also, among other things, issues such as rising energy prices and interest rates. Many entrepreneurs in the current macroeconomic conditions refuse to manage companies because they are not able to generate positive financial results, says restructuring adviser and legal adviser Lukasz Goszczynski.
In addition, the ministry data show that the first half of this year. PLN 161.1 thousand entered into the CEIDG register. suspension requests. This is 39.4 percent. more than in the same period last year, when there were more than 115.5 thousand. So recently, the average monthly value was 26,857, and earlier - 19,264. If we consider this year, then most of the applications were in January and June - 38,025 and 28,564 respectively. These months also open such a list, covering the first half of 2021. - 24 104 and 21 514.
- Most often, entrepreneurs decide to suspend their activities in a situation where, under the given conditions, they cannot receive income. Such a move allows you to wait out a difficult period for free. However, companies naturally leave the market, for which it is difficult to return after some time and establish new business relationships, - explains the lawyer Goshchinsky.
The specter of the crisis chills entrepreneurs
According to the press service of MRiT, the beginning and end of the year are always a period of greater dynamics in the number of entities making decisions to resume, suspend or close a business. These are natural processes in the economy. Lukasz Goszczynski, on the other hand, adds that the biggest move in new entries in CEIDG is related to companies’ annual financial results. The beginning of the year is also a period when tax legislation imposes additional bureaucratic and fiscal obligations.
- In the second half of the year we can expect an increase in the number of closed companies. In my opinion, this will be caused by issues such as high inflation, the war in Ukraine and further tax changes introduced in the middle of the year. Small businesses will be less competitive in relation to their larger counterparts, - emphasizes Natalia Stoch-Mika.
