Orlen 79th Rally Poland will take place from 19 to 21 May. 83 crews from 25 countries will compete in the championships of Poland and Europe. We know the schedule of the rally and we know who will start it. The government has prepared a gift for the riders.
Many great riders will compete on the Masurian gravel roads, including Hayden Paddon from New Zealand, the leader of the ERC classification after two rounds with a “one” on the hood. Efren Llarena from Spain, the winner of the European Championship last season, will compete in Mikolajki with the second starting number, and with the “troika” we will see four-time Norwegian champion Mads Ostberg. The start lists include a well-known name in the rally world - McRae. The 18-year-old nephew of the famous Colin McRae starts the Polish rally driving an Opel Corsa Rally4 with number 37.
Last year’s winner of the Rally Poland will also be present.
The Masurian gravel roads will also be the scene of the fight for points in the Polish championship. 35 crews will take part in the RSMP stage, 14 of which have also registered for the ERC, including Grzegorz Grzyb, Sylvester Placzyk, Adrian Hvetchuk, Lukasz Byskiniewicz, Maciej Lubiak, Yaroslav Koltun, Rafał Kwiatkowski and Yaroslav Shea (all in Rally2). auto class). The winners of last year’s Rally Poland Miko Marchik and Szymon Gospodarczyk will also be present at the start in car number 6.
Wislak driving a rally car
Fans will be very pleased with the start of 79-year-old Maciej Wislawski (with co-driver Andrzej Kalitowicz), a veteran rally track, European champion and vice-champion, and two-time Polish champion, who will take part in the Rally Poland for the 29th time. The legendary driver Krzysztof Holowczyc will appear on the track with start number 90.
A gift to riders from the government
The Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk, the day before the start of Rally Poland, announced on Polish Radio that the government had adopted a bill containing the legal regulation of the movement of rally cars on public roads. So there is hope that the problems with the movement of rally crews between special stages will end. Rally cars will receive special registration plates provided they are driven by a licensed driver.
