The Verkhovna Rada has begun signing a bill on the decriminalization of pornographic content. The document itself is planned to be registered this week. This was reported MP from the Holos faction Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
He called on people’s deputies to sign the bill and “unload law enforcement agencies from” test purchases “from web models.”
It is noted that the bill proposes to revise the effect of two articles of the Criminal Code: the 301st, concerning the importation, production and distribution of pornography, and the 302nd, concerning the organization of “places of debauchery.”
Thus, in particular, Article 301 is proposed to be reworded, which will provide for punishment only for the distribution of pornographic content without the consent of the person depicted in it or for the distribution of pornography among minors.
Article 302 is proposed to be abolished altogether.
At the same time, the authors of the initiative note that the changes they proposed will in no way relate to the distribution or production of child pornography. The relevant articles of the Criminal Code, which provide for punishment for these crimes, are proposed to be left in force.
In the summer of 2022, a petition calling for the legalization of erotica and porn in Ukraine gained the necessary 25,000 signatures on the website of the Office of the President. Then representatives of the “BRDO Effective Regulation Office” published an open appeal in which they also advocated the decriminalization of porn. The appeal was signed by 91 public organizations and individuals.
As FACTS wrote, earlier Pope Francis warned priests and nuns about the dangers of watching pornography on the Internet.
