NEURC has officially submitted proposals to increase the unified electricity tariff for residential consumers from June 1, 2023 to the level of UAH 2.88/kWh (including VAT). This was reported by the publication “Energoreforma”.
As noted in a letter to the Ministry of Energy signed by the head of the regulator Ruslan Kaydash, such tariff changes will improve the financial performance of NNEGC Energoatom and PrJSC Ukrhydroenergo, that is, the main executors of the PSO tool (imposing special duties on participants in the electricity market to ensure public interests in the process of market functioning (of electric energy), due to which the difference in the market price of electricity is covered.
At the same time, it is also noted that the only effective way to stabilize the JI mechanism is the gradual bringing of prices to the market level.
According to Energy Reform sources in the government, the Cabinet of Ministers will consider this proposal at its meeting in the near future.
At present, the tariff for the population is 1.44 UAH/kWh with a monthly consumption of 250 kWh and 1.68 UAH/kWh with the consumption of the resource in large volumes.
Earlier, the NEURC calculated that the “real” price of electricity without VAT is 5.1 UAH / kWh, and with the tax - 6.12 UAH, however, the Rada promises that there will not be a multiple increase in the price of electricity for citizens, but for the most vulnerable the population it will be “practically not tangible.”
