On May 23, the Slovenian Parliament adopted a declaration recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-33 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. According to the press service of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Slovenia, the State Assembly of the country adopted a corresponding declaration to commemorate the mass murder by starvation - genocide in Ukraine.
In a declaration, parliamentarians condemn “genocidal acts that caused the death of millions of Ukrainians and caused great harm to the foundations of Ukrainian society”as well as condemn and reject “attempts to distort historical facts”, associated with the Holodomor.
The declaration recognizing the Holodomor as genocide was adopted by a majority of 67 votes with the support of all parliamentary groups, except for the Left Party. Its representative Matej Vatovets named the document “political act”which “based on false premises.”

President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to this decision. He thanked the Slovenian parliament.
“The international coalition of states dedicated to the restoration of historical justice continues to grow stronger. Together towards the truth, and hence responsibility”Zelensky commented on Twitter.

Recall that the parliaments of more than two dozen countries of the world, including those in Europe, have already recognized the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.
