On Thursday, February 23, the Ukrainian men’s basketball team played a qualifying match for EuroBasket 2023 against Italy in Livorno. Considering the standings in the tournament, Ainars Bagatskis’ wards had to win exclusively in order to count on the continuation of the struggle for reaching the final tournament.

The teams went to the big break with an equal score - 43:43, and before the final quarter the advantage of the Apennines was minimal - 58:57. As a result, the result of the fight was decided in the final ten minutes, which the wards of Ainars Bagatskis failed first of all in defense, and after the defeat (75:85) they lost all chances of reaching the final part of EuroBasket-2023.
Other matches of group L ended with the following results: Iceland - Spain - 61:80, Netherlands - Georgia - 80:88.

Let’s add that in the final round of the qualifying round on February 26, the following matches will take place: Ukraine - the Netherlands, Spain - Italy, Georgia - Iceland.
Earlier reported that Ukraine brilliantly put the squeeze on Lithuania, but was left without the Women’s EuroBasket.
