The popular actor and restaurateur, participant of the Dancing with the Stars project Daniel Salem, to whom Tina Karol made a generous gift, has been fighting at the front since the first days of the full-scale invasion of Russia. At first he was in the terrorist defense, then he got to the front line in the intelligence unit. Now Daniel Salem is a senior intelligence officer with the call sign “Sawyer”. During the fighting, he was wounded and is now undergoing rehabilitation. In the Quiet Evening with Elena Kravets program, Daniel told what he does first of all when he comes to his family in Odessa, and recalled an unexpected meeting at the front.
“I have such little traditions, - He speaks Salem. - I think they are very masculine. The first thing I do when I get home: there is such a small booth and there is the most delicious shawarma in Odessa. I’m leaving there. I love food and this is very important to me. In general, all the special forces know: if we go somewhere to “rest”, they always take something else separately for food, because they know that there is a “Sawyer” that will eat everything.
Talking about his military everyday life, Daniel recalled the meeting that struck him the most. It was right after the battle near the settlement of Pokrovskoye.
“We were behind Pokrovsky (in the Donetsk region), there was a small battle, about 15 minutes, Salem remembered. - And we all recharged. We settled in a secluded place and sit. Silence is like that. And then I hear someone running towards us. I turn my head and see: a boy, a little boy, he is about 8 years old. He’s in a Real Madrid T-shirt, blue shorts and dirty crocs. He runs to us like this: “Guys, how are you?” We are sitting like this: “Normas”. And he: “Will you eat?” You understand, for me this guy at that moment was like Jesus. I told him: “Yes, I want kefir and bread.” I really love kefir and bread, and I really wanted to. And he’s like, “Now.” And running. We sit further. And then it comes back - milk and bread: “Boys, there was no kefir, but there is milk, fresh milk.” We take milk, we take bread. I told him: “Small, thank you!” And he returned to me, looked into my eyes and said: “I’m not small, I’m Zheka.” And I saw such a very powerful Ukrainian guy. And when he said this, he did not run, he proudly walked away. I remember his eyes as he said. I remember with what pride he did it, helped us, the military. And there are indeed shootings. And I realized then that our nation cannot be broken.”
