In the Chernihiv region, a court sentenced a DAF truck driver who caused the death of 14 shuttle bus passengers in December 2021. This was reported in the regional prosecutor’s office.
According to the materials of the case, moving in the direction of the city of Mena, the accused drove into the oncoming traffic lane of the Chernigov-Gremyach highway, where he collided with the MERSEDES shuttle bus Borzna-Chernigov, heading to the regional center.
For committing an accident with 14 dead, the driver was sentenced to 9 years behind bars with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for 3 years.
The accident happened on the morning of December 7 on the H-27 highway. The bus driver and 10 passengers died on the spot, two more people died in the hospital. The next day, mourning for the dead was declared in the Chernihiv region, all institutions and organizations, regardless of their form of ownership, were recommended to cancel entertainment events that day.
Recall that a large-scale accident involving several cars also occurred on December 1 in Kyiv. The number of victims in it is still being specified.
