Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak took part in the signing ceremony of a framework contract for the supply of 155 mm artillery ammunition for the Polish Armed Forces with the possibility of acquiring additional 120 mm ammunition. The agreement will specify the terms and conditions for concluding individual executive contracts for the supply of artillery ammunition for the Polish army.
Blaszczak: Artillery plays a key role
The parties to the agreement are the Arms Agency and the PGZ-AMUNICJA consortium, which, in addition to the Polish Arms Group itself, also includes ammunition companies such as Mesko, Dezamet, Nitro-chem, the Gamrat plant and the Belma plant in Bydgoszcz.
– A minute ago, I approved a framework agreement regarding the order of the Polish Army from Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa in a consortium led by Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa for 155 mm artillery ammunition – said the head of the Ministry of Defense, stressing that “the experience of the war in Ukraine directly shows that artillery plays a key role.” – The decisions of the Polish authorities are focused on strengthening the artillery – added.
The head of the Defense Ministry noted that tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition are used daily in Ukraine.
– Our order concerns hundreds of thousands, but we can also say that we can talk about a million rounds of ammunition that the Polish defense industry should produce – Blaschak said. – The agreement allows the Polish defense industry to increase its production capacity – added.
The Deputy Prime Minister announced that the ammunition will be used to train Polish soldiers, they will form a reserve for the Polish Army, and if production capacity is increased in a short time, “we will also be able to export ammunition.” .
