Wi-Fi 7, the next generation of the world’s most popular wireless standard, is already in the final stages of certification.
It’s no secret that Wi-Fi 7, the latest generation of the universal wireless communications standard, is rapidly approaching our homes and introducing a new Internet standard.
Now the Wi-Fi Alliance has announced that Wi-Fi 7 is in the final stages of the certification process and will be ready for use in about a dozen months.
When will Wi-Fi 7 arrive?
The latest information released by the Wi-Fi Alliance shows that the Wi-Fi 7 standard can be expected before the end of the first quarter of 2024.
At this point, it’s probably worth asking the question: will my devices - modem, smartphone, computer - be ready to receive a signal in the new generation Wi-Fi standard? Well, interestingly, there is no longer a shortage of equipment on the market that is technologically ready for Wi-Fi 7, although at the moment we are mainly talking about routers.
By the end of 2024, every person interested in this kind of technological innovation should be able to arm themselves with an appropriate set of devices that support the new standard. And we can be sure that by then smartphones, tablets and computers with Wi-Fi 7 will definitely be available.
What’s new in Wi-Fi 7
We already know that Wi-Fi 7 will use three frequencies: 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz. Of course, the latest generation of this type of connection will be more stable, faster and offer data transfer at 46 Gbps, which is more than four times higher than in the case of Wi-Fi 6.
