Polish volleyball players began their selection for the Olympic Games with three victories. Unfortunately, in the fourth match they unexpectedly lost to the representatives of Thailand. Here’s what the Group C table looks like after four matches.
Polish volleyball players have already played four out of eight matches in the ongoing Olympic qualification. In the first three matches, Stefano Lavarini’s team performed well, because in the opening match they beat Slovenia with a score of 3:0, then South Korea with a score of 3:1, and in the third match they defeated Colombia with a score of 3:0.
Olympic qualifications: Polish volleyball players made life difficult for themselves
Unfortunately, in the last match against Thailand, the white-red made life very difficult for themselves. There was no indication of what would happen. Although our players lost the first set, they won the second set with a score of 25:7. Unfortunately, they lost again in the next match, but managed to equalize, which meant a tiebreaker. The defeat with a score of 3:2 (25:18, 7:25, 25:22, 23:25, 15:12) meant that access to the Olympic Games in Paris was significantly delayed.
Moreover, now the “whites” and “reds” will have to face the most difficult opponents. The first to emerge will be the Germans, with whom we have already won this year, including in the quarterfinals of the Nations League and the 1/8 finals of the European Championship. The match of the fifth round of qualification for the Olympic Games against volleyball players led by Vital Heinen will take place on Friday, September 22, at 17:30.
Polish group table after two matches
This is not the end of the struggle and intense sports emotions associated with Olympic qualification. Then the “whites” and “reds” will meet with the US national teams on Saturday, September 23 (17:30) and Italy on Sunday, September 24 (20:30).
