The Chinese team will play in the finals of the Women’s Nations Volleyball League. Asians in the night (Polish time) semi-finals of the VNL beat Byala-Chervone in three sets. Thus, the Chinese took revenge for the defeat 0:3 from Paul in the intercontinental phase. On Sunday, our volleyball players will compete for bronze medals.
After beating Germany 3-1 in the Nations League quarter-finals, appetite for the next step in the competition was high. Biala-Chervone, on the wave of enthusiasm, having added a basis for a solid game, wanted to threaten in the semi-finals of Saturday-Sunday (Polish time). And I must admit, although there really were “moments”, the Chinese women showed their strength.

Byalo-Chervone have already settled in the first set of the semi-finals. The problem with Stefano Lavarini’s team was that they lacked the basics, for example, in the form of a good serve, and the opponent played very well. Soon on the field from the Polish side we saw a double substitution: Yulia Nowicka and Monika Galkowska.
However, not only Katarzyna Wienerska or our leader Magdalena Stisiak could not outwit their rivals in the longer distance. The Chinese played well in defense, winning back a lot of balls and, importantly, completing counterattacks. On our part, there was such a high percentage of using our “second chances” in individual actions. From the first game, you can draw a beautiful act of the Poles when they scored the 15th point. Joanna Pachak finished a great long exchange with an effective block. So what, because the opponents already had 22 points.

The second game could be the turning point. Although the Poles had to race again, in the end they managed to jump to their rivals. At 22:23 Martina Lukasik showed an ace on the serve. Unfortunately, at 23:24 Martina Chirnanska threw the ball in a throw-in without catching her opponents in her hands. The latter entered the field during the first set for Olivia Ruzhansky and remained so. The Chinese won 25:23 and did not miss this match.
The last, as it turned out, set of the match was again an attempt - the ambition of Polish women cannot be denied - a jump to rivals. The Asians, on the other hand, maintained an advantage of two or three points (except for 21:22) almost throughout the entire set. If they did not help themselves with effective defense, then they increased the pace in the game and the final attack. It was obvious that the Chinese personnel had learned a lesson from the intercontinental phase. And the 0:3 defeat on home soil obviously hurt the Chinese, who took a tough revenge on the Polish team in Arlington.
It is already known that on Sunday the Poles will fight for bronze. The meeting will start at 21:00 Polish time. The opponents will be the losers in the US-Türkiye match. So no matter who the white-reds go to, it will not be easy. But the Lavarini team has already shown that they can fight the strongest. Therefore, one can still hope that the Poles will be able to leave for the USA with a medal.
