If you delve into the history of the white-red performances at world competitions, then the Poles have long unsuccessfully tried to get on any podium. At the world championships, our volleyball players have won three medals in history. The latter, however, is already the old fashioned way, because we are talking about 1962 - then bronze in China.
Six years later (i.e. in 1968) Polish women added the last album to the worldwide event. It was the Olympic tournament in Mexico. Byalo-Chervone won bronze, just like at the Olympic Games four years earlier (1964) in Tokyo. Since then, the counter has been ticking.
In fairness, our volleyball players were also reaching for medals at the European Championships. The last time the Poles climbed the podium in 2009, having won bronze. However, in 2003 and 2005, the white-red team had no equal in the Old Continent. However, compared to global competition, this balance is much worse for Polish women. Sunday will be an opportunity to break the curse.

After the defeat of the home team from the Turks (1:3), the Americans will have a match for bronze. In the intercontinental phase, the US volleyball players were slightly better, beating Byalo-Chervone after a tie-break. How will it be in the game on the VNL podium? The meeting starts at 21:00 Polish time. The stands in American Arlington will certainly be on the side of the opponents of the team of coach Lavarini.
