Barcelona have been fined by UEFA for violating financial fair play rules. The penalty affected not only the Catalan team, but also other European clubs.

Barcelona fined by UEFA

The Catalan club has been fined by UEFA for misreporting “income from the sale of intangible assets” in 2022. Manchester United, recently taken over by the Qatari sheikhs, was also punished for a “slight break-even deficit”. Old Trafford have issued an official statement expressing their disappointment with UEFA’s decision, but acknowledging it as a minor technical breach of previous Financial Fair Play rules.

These are not the only clubs to receive such fines. Among others also: the Belgian Royal Antwerp and RSK Anderlecht, the Cypriot APOEL Nicosia, as well as the Turkish Konyaspor, Trabzonspor and Istanbul Basaksehir. The UEFA statement also said that the clubs Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan and AC Milan, with which an agreement was reached in September 2022, have achieved their goals set for the 2022 financial year. the aforementioned companies will continue to monitor compliance in the coming season.

In a few days, Barcelona will go on a pre-season tour of the United States, where they will play matches with Juventus, Arsenal, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur.
