During the break of the match between Iga Sviontek and Elina Svitolina, we witnessed unusual events. First, the Polish woman had a heated discussion with her psychologist Daria Abramovich, and then … she began to make notes in a notebook. Unfortunately, this did not help her succeed.
To write that the match between Iga Sviontek and Elina Svitolina did not go as the polka had planned is to write nothing. Already in the previous fight with Belinda Bencic, we knew about the huge problems of the first racket of the WTA rating, and in the quarterfinals it was no better. Not surprisingly, during the match, the 22-year-old decided to talk to a member of her coaching staff.
Iga Sviontek discussed with Daria Abramovich during the break of the match
As a result, the Pole started the second set much better than she finished the first one. At the end of the previous game, we witnessed an impressive streak by the Ukrainian, who scored several points in a row. Of the last 22 points, Svitolina scored as many as 20. This clearly showed how difficult the match was for our tennis player.
In the break between sets, both players were able to rest a little longer than usual, because the organizers decided to close the roof. Therefore, it took some time to wait for the resumption of the competition. Rashinyanka took this opportunity to consult, but, interestingly, did not talk to her coach.
Instead, the cameras showed a conversation between Swiatek and Daria Abramovich, a psychologist who works closely with the world’s best tennis player at the moment. It was impossible to hear exactly what the specialist was talking about with the athlete, although it was a rather energetic exchange. Abramovich gesticulated vividly, explaining something to her ward.
Iga Swiatek took notes during the match
The producers then also captured the Polish woman writing down something in a notebook that she took with her to court. However, despite the close-up of the notebook, it was impossible to make out exactly what she had written in her notebook.
It seemed that Abramovich managed to inspire Swiatek, because she started the second set much better. After ten minutes of the game, she took a 3-1 lead, so it seemed that she could seize the initiative and dominate her opponent. Nothing more to worry about, then Svitolina went on the attack and it became 4:4, and soon 5:6. The Ukrainian impressed me with her quick wit and efficiency of return. However, Rashinyanka managed to achieve a tie-break. In it, she managed to make up for the initial losses from 1:4 to 4:4, and then turn the tide of the entire set. Therefore, the third party decided the fate of the match.
