Must read

Great news was brought by the fourth club of the last season of the Tauron Women’s League, that is, BKS Bostik ZGO Bielsko-Biała. The team will play in the CEV Cup instead of the Challenge Cup. It comes with one solution.

On Saturday, July 8, the volleyball club BKS Bostik ZGO Bielsko-Biała, which finished fourth in the Tauron Women’s League, provided fantastic information. Despite finishing off the podium, instead of playing in the 2023/24 season in the less prestigious Challenge Cup, he will play in the CEV Cup. This is connected with the decision on Russia and Belarus.

“Due to the exclusion of teams from Russia and Belarus by the European Federation, Poland received an additional place in the CEV Cup. For this reason, our team will perform in the upcoming season in the CEV Cup.

Who will play in European competition next season?

Last season, the ŁKS Commercecon Łódź team won the Tauron Liga and Developres Bella Dolina Rzeszów came in second. The participants of Grot Budowlane Łódź stood on the lowest step of the podium. Club BKS Bostik ZGO Bielsko-Biała took only the fourth place.

What is the situation with Polish teams in European competition in the 2023/2024 season? There is no doubt that the champion and vice-champion of Poland, i.e. ŁKS Commercecon Łódź and Developres Bella Dolina Rzeszów, will play in the Champions League.

Due to the continued suspension of teams from Russia and Belarus by the European Federation, the third team of the Tauron Women’s League, i.e. volleyball players Grot Budowlane Łódź, will also qualify for the Champions League. This means that the fourth team, in this case BKS Bostik ZGO Bielsko-Biała, will play in the CEV Cup instead of the Challenge Cup.

Past BKS Bostik ZGO Bielsko-Biala

Volleyball players from Bielsko-Biała last played in the CEV Cup ten years ago, in the 2013/14 season. The best period in the history of volleyball in Byala came in 1987-1997. At that time, volleyball players from Bielsko won eleven Polish championship medals, of which five were gold (1988, 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1996), four silver (1987, 1992, 1994 and 1995) and two bronze (1993 and 1997). In addition, the collection includes three Polish Cups won in 1988, 1989 and 1990.
