The regulations for the upcoming PKO BP Ekstraklasa season will be published in the near future. According to the Veslo website, the provision on youth is preserved. In the current campaign, not every team has coped with this. The newly minted champion of Poland, Rakov Czestochowa, suffered the most.
In recent months, in the Polish media and social networks, the topic of a record about a youth player who is included in the PKO BP Ekstraklasa regulations has flared up. In light of this, clubs must comply with the established limits, assuming matches played by young players in the starting line-up. The controversy has led many to ponder the meaning of this provision. Despite numerous objections, it is likely to be retained.
Unofficial: Regulations on the youth player in PKO BP Ekstraklasa will be saved
Financial sanctions will affect several PKO BP Ekstraklasa teams that failed to fulfill the youth player clause in a slow season. According to the Veslo website, this provision will remain in the league regulations for the next season. In addition, there will be a system of penalties and restrictions on the specific number of minutes that young players must spend on the field. This season it looked like this:
-
Fine in the amount of PLN 3,000,000 - in case of participation in the games of any number of youth players with a total playing time of 999 minutes or less,
-
PLN 2 million - in case of participation in the games of any number of youth players with a total playing time of 1000 to 1999 minutes,
-
PLN 1 million - in case of participation in the games of any number of youth players with a total playing time of 2000 to 2499 minutes,
-
PLN 0.5 million - in case of participation in the games of any number of youth players with a total duration of the game from 2500 to 2999 minutes.
The rules may still change
The same portal reports that the above provisions are subject to change. Next season youth status will be extended to players born in 2002 and younger. In the 2022/23 season, Zagłębie Lubin fielded young players most often, thanks to which they will be rewarded with PLN 3.25 million.
It is worth noting that the same provision will apply to the lower leagues as well. In the 1st League “Fortuna” teams will have to field at least one youth player born in 2003 and younger, in the 2nd League - two, and in the 3rd League - three. The same applies to the Polish Fortuna Cup, in which clubs will have to field at least one young player. In PKO BP Ekstraklasa this number will be arbitrary.
