Due to the very serious state of health of David Kubatsky’s wife, it is not known how his sports career will develop. The 33-year-old just touched on his future as a ski jumper in an interview.
The last weeks with David Kubatsky and his family are extremely difficult. The Polish jumper had to withdraw from the conclusion of Raw Air 2023 and the rest of the World Cup due to his wife being hospitalized. Marta Kubatskaya was in critical condition. The athlete’s wife, who has heart problems, has recently been feeling better, as the 33-year-old athlete himself said. In an interview he gave to a Radio Zet journalist, Kubacki touched on a difficult issue related to his future career.
David Kubatsky had to stop his career due to illness of his wife
Theoretically, it seems that our compatriot could still achieve great success. The 2022/23 season was very good for him, especially his first half. At that time, he was in the lead in the World Cup standings. He was later overtaken by Halvor Egner Granerud, and at the finish line also by Anze Laniszek and Stefan Kraft. However, Kubatsky’s fall from the podium was the result of Kubatsky’s departure from the start at the end of the season, because, understandably, taking care of his sick wife was a priority for him.
So at the moment it is not known when the 33-year-old athlete will return to competitions on the hill and whether this will happen at all. It’s hard to expect him to start in summer competitions. Uncertainty concerns even the more distant future, that is, the next season of the World Cup.
A clear statement by David Kubacki
The good news is that the player himself still expresses a desire to continue his career. “I’ve had the opportunity to think about it. I have the will and the support to keep doing it. I have the enthusiasm,” he told Radio Zet.
Whether I will have the opportunity will become clear in the coming weeks and months. I think so. I’m realist. At the moment I can’t say 100%. Everything must work out, we must adapt to this situation, adapt as soon as possible, as I want to continue my career, - said Kubatsky, who, however, understands that not everything depends on him.
