Big triumph for ZAKSA in the Champions League. Perugia on your knees!

Must read

ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle is fighting for a third consecutive volleyball Champions League final. After the first “mini-final” with Itas Trentino in the quarterfinals, Tuomas Sammelvuo’s wards had to beat Sir Safety Perugia, led by Andrea Anastasi.

The first set started very well for the ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle volleyball players, who quickly took the lead by two points (4:2), and then increased it even more (7:3). The Kendzezhin team played very well in serving and blocking, as well as productively in attack, which leveled the strengths of Perugia.

Great set from ZAKSA

In the second half of this set, the Kendzezhin team achieved a seven-point advantage (16:9), but the excellent series was interrupted by the rivals, who slowly began to come to the fore. Players from Perugia reduced the advantage to four “points” with two two-point series (17:13). Tuomas Sammelvuo decided to take his time, which resulted in Perugia’s bad serve and extra points for ZAKSA.

Ultimately, the guests in this part were helpless, and the hosts played the first set with the filing of Wilfredo Leon. The representative of Poland missed the field, thanks to which ZAKSA won the first set against Perugia 25:18.

ZAKSA was close to triumph in the second set. One mistake led to defeat

The second set was more even than the first. The players of both teams most of the time went one on one, and only in the second part of the ZAKSA game Kendzezhin-Kozle took the lead by two points (15:13). This time the hosts did not increase the advantage, but squandered it. Volleyball players from Perugia won four matches in a row - 15:18. However, Kendzezhinsk team managed to make up for lost time and level the score (19:19). In this set, Herrera, who was unstoppable, wreaked havoc in the ranks of ZAKSA. Largely thanks to him, Andrea Anastasi’s men got ahead of their rivals - 20:22.

Shortly before the end, with the score at 21:23, Pashytsky first completed the attack from the middle, and in the next action, Herrera hit the net, thanks to which the hosts tied, and then, after a long exchange, Slivka hit the block, which gave ZAKSE a set point. Unfortunately, the Kendzierzyn’s team didn’t take advantage of the free ball and made an unforced error. Alexander Slivka tried to complete the next two actions, but in the first he attacked after the tape in the car, and then he was blocked, which ended with a victory for Perugia 24:26.

ZAXA recovered and won the third set. Concert of Kaczmarek and Bednorets

ZAKSA started the third game with a 4:1 advantage, but the opponents managed to catch up with the hosts. In the late part of this set, the Kendzierzyn team kept two points in reserve, but the opponents kept threatening the PlusLiga volleyball players. Tuomas Sammelvuo’s call after Wilfredo Leon’s action caused a lot of controversy. The Perugia player pushed into the net with an opponent, and initially the referee showed that he was not the last to touch the ball. Kaczmarek reacted very expressively and ran to the coach to check this action. The situation was analyzed for several minutes, but the doubts were not dispelled to the end. As a result, the judges awarded a point to the hosts.

Lukasz Kaczmarek, who has been the backbone of the team, has had a phenomenal match so far. At some point, the hosts were five points ahead of their rivals (17:12). Bartosz Bednorz joined Lukas Kaczmarek, who wreaked havoc in the opponent’s ranks with a left attack. among other things, thanks to him, the Kendzierzyn team did not lose this advantage to the end and won in the third set 25:18

The fourth set started well and ended even better!

The fourth set was brilliantly started by ZAKSA leaders Kendzezhin-Kozle. The first point was scored by Lukas Kaczmarek, who hit the block. In the second act, Herrera pierced one block of Bartosz Bednorets, and then Olek Slivka scored a point with an ace serve. In the next action, Bednorz completed the attack after a long exchange.

This four-point advantage was held by the hosts for a very long time, but at some point the rivals began to come to the fore. With the score 8:4, Wilfredo Leon first struck the third meter from the second line, and then, together with his friends, set up a solid block, which was caught by Lukasz Kaczmarek.

However, this series of Andrea Anastasi’s charges did not last long, because with the score 10:8 the hosts increased their advantage to five points. First, Bartosz Bednorz got into the block, and then the Cuban Herrera was blocked. In the next action, Giannelli made a mistake on the rebound, which allowed the Kendzezhinsky team to take the lead in the score 13:8.

Unfortunately, after a moment there was nothing left of this serve, and the Perugia volleyball players quickly returned to the game (15:14). Luckily for Kendzezhin, Bartosz Bednorz broke this series of opponents and scored the sixteenth point. It was a turning point that allowed the hosts to jump four points (21:17). The ending belonged to ZAKSA, who won this set 25:22, and in the whole match - 3:1.

Tuomas Sammelvuo’s players will travel to Italy for a rematch on April 6th. This meeting is scheduled for 8:30 pm.
