The European Indoor Championships enters the phase of the struggle for medals. Among the Polish contenders for the medal is a Polish decathlete who openly admitted that she wants to fight for the highest goals.
The Poles flew to Istanbul in a reduced composition. Justyna Sventy-Ersetic, Natalia Kaczmarek, Karol Zalewski and Patrik Dobek resigned from the start. On the other hand, other stars will start, who, with greater or lesser expectations, will compete for medals in the most important event of the closed season. The Polish decathlete has been successfully competing since the very first competitions.
Polish athlete’s life record at HME
Adrianna Sulek is one of Poland’s biggest hopes for a medal at the European Indoor Championships. Two weeks ago, the 23-year-old athlete from Bydgoszcz broke the Polish record in the pentathlon (4860 points). She later stated that her dream was to break Natalia Dobrynskaya’s world record. With an ambitious attitude, she went to Istanbul, where from the very beginning of the struggle she set a high pace.
Before the Polish woman joined the competition, she had to get up quite early. The day before the start, she announced on social media that she would wake up at 4:30 before the start of the competition. This is the result of the starting schedule, which provided for the start of the first competition at 9 am local time (7 am Polish time).
In the first event, the 60m hurdles, Sulek set a personal best. She ran the distance in 8.21 s, beating the previous record of 0.12 s. However, the most dangerous competitors, Belgian Noor Vidts and Nafissatou Thiam, maintain a similar form. She was the first to cross the finish line with the same time, but it was she who was destined to win the competition. Thiam, on the other hand, recorded a time of 8.23 seconds, which means she is still close to the two rivals.
