Volleyball players playing in Polish clubs have had a hard time lately, and the toughest challenges await players representing teams competing in the Champions League. Bartosz Kwolek drew attention to the busy schedule, and quite eloquently mentioned what awaits his team.
On Sunday, December 4, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie won another championship match by beating Barkom Kazany Lwów in three sets. Michal Winiarski’s wards are third in the table after 13 rounds of PlusLiga and combine domestic competitions with performances in the Champions League. This means that subsequent matches are played at short intervals and do not have time for a long rest.
The busy schedule is also due to the expansion of PlusLiga games, with 16 teams playing since the current season. Two days after the match with Bark, Zawiercie will host Szlepsk Suwalki at their own gala concert, which was sharply commented by Bartosz Kwolek.
Bartosz Kwolek: Many matches
In an interview with Strefa Volleyball, Poland’s representative pointed out that while they are not playing a match in Suwałki, as Jastrzembski Wengel used to play, it would still be difficult to play two matches in such a short period of time. “Moreover, both we and the residents of Jastrzebie-Zdrój play in the Champions League and there are a lot of these matches, there is also a joke that instead of two or three days between meetings we play with a difference of 48 hours,” he reminded.
Kwolek eloquently stressed that he would “not comment” on the busy schedule of clubs playing in the PlusLiga and the Champions League. “You have to adapt to this and, above all, take care of your health,” he added.
Kwolek’s clubmate David Konarski recently spoke in a similar tone. In an interview with sport.tvp.pl, the striker noted that for the volleyball players of his club, the upcoming matches are training, as the team does not have time for quiet training. - This is how it will look until December 21, when we play against Serrad Charnem Radom. Until then, we compete every three or even every two days. This shouldn’t happen in a professional league.
