Tragedy almost ended a bike ride through the Alps during a holiday in Italy for the 32-year-old former biathlete Gabriela Soukalova, who became a mother in September last year.
According to La Provincia Di Sondrio, the Czech athlete deviated from her usual route and eventually got lost, while her mobile phone quickly ran out of power in the cold air - however, Gabriela managed to send her location to her relatives.
Rescuers immediately went in search of Soukalova, but they did not give any results. Only a day later, the next day, she was found at an altitude of 2270 meters - and then only due to the fact that Gabriela had the strength to continue to call for help. Fortunately, the athlete was not seriously injured and hospitalization was not needed, but both she and her family survived serious stress.
Soukalova ended her sports career in 2019. Over the years of performances, Gabriela became a two-time world champion, and also received three awards (two silver and bronze) at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Recently, the Czech has been one of the main haters of Russian biathlon, actively campaigning for the removal of Russian athletes from all competitions. True, we do not undertake to assert that representatives of the aggressor country are related to the mysterious disappearance of Gabriela in the Italian Alps.
Earlier reported that the player of the club of the Ukrainian Premier League was missing.
