Iga Swiatek ready to compete in Warsaw
- I am very mobilized for this tournament, - said Iga Sviontek during the press conference. - I was able to recover, although I trained hard for a week and already forgot what it was like to be on vacation. So far I have had the opportunity to play in Warsaw. Of course, there will be a lot of stress, but the goals do not change. I enter every tournament with the intention of winning it. The unsportsmanlike goal is to popularize tennis. The best action will be the next winning matches. I hope to play until Sunday to show the fans as much of my tennis as possible, - added Iga.
Other great tennis players will also perform in Warsaw. Among them are Shuai Zhang (2019 Australian Open and 2021 US Open doubles champion), as well as Yulia Putintseva and Nadia Podoroska (2020 French Open semi-finalist). So far, three Poles are already participating in the main tournament, because in addition to Christmas, we will definitely see Magdalena French and Maya Chvalinska, and Katarzyna Kawa will fight in the qualifying round.
- I am very glad that the tournament is being held in Warsaw. When we moved this event from Gdynia to the capital, we did not think that Iga would be number 1. Some were afraid that she, as the best tennis player in the world, would leave, but this was out of the question. Moreover, as a father, he assures me that he will play in this tournament from beginning to end, - said Tomasz Swiatek, the organizer of the tournament.
