In 1960 he became German champion with HSV, was runner-up twice, and in 1968 reached the final of the Cup Winners’ Cup. In the 1963/64 season, he became the top scorer in the Bundesliga with 30 goals.

Uwe Seeler has died at the age of 85.
He played 72 matches for the national team, scoring 43 goals. He finished the World Cup three times in the top four: in 1966 in England he became the second in the world, four years later he won bronze in Mexico, and in 1958 in Sweden, Germany took fourth place.
After his athletic career, he worked for Adidas and managed a gas station, became president of Hamburger SV in 1995, but resigned in 1998 as a result of a financial scandal, although he was not charged. He published a biography titled “Thank You Football”.

Since 2005, a monument to Seeler has stood in front of the stadium in Hamburg. The football tradition is continued by his grandson Levin Oeztunali, who currently plays in the Bundesliga for Union Berlin. (Fact24, PAP)
