According to the Ministry of National Defense, the new formation will be created on the basis of the existing Territorial Defense Forces. 10 battalions will be detached from their structures and sent directly to the defense of the eastern border. And, as Minister Blaschak warns, there is something to be afraid of.

- We will know that Russian aggression continues. That the rulers of the Kremlin will probably decide to take advantage of the difficult situation in North Africa and the Middle East to once again throw these people on the borders of the European Union, Mariusz Blaszczak warned.

And he remembered the situation a year ago, when thousands of migrants tried to cross the Polish-Belarusian border by force. Then, several thousand soldiers and numerous police forces were sent to help the Border Guards. Now, if the situation repeats itself, the KOP troops will begin to support the border guards.

Separate units, after appropriate training, reinforcement and equipment, will be deployed in the Warmian-Masurian, Podlaskie, Lublin and Podkarpackie voivodeships. According to the military, this is an interesting initiative, especially if you remember what happened a year ago.

- At that time, unfortunately, the Border Guard Service, due to its numbers and equipment, could not stop the onslaught of migration. Let’s always remember that Belarus is the main threat to us. The border guard component, as Minister Mariusz Błaszczak acknowledged, should refer to the name and functions of the Border Guard Corps from the Second Polish Republic. Also in the Polish People’s Republic, next to the Border Guard, there was a special formation whose task was to protect the borders - the Border Guard Army. The military notes that such specialized light infantry may also have tasks in the event of hostilities.

- Everything depends on the strategic prerequisites for the defense of our state. And, for example, such battalions can be used for possible defense at intermediate lines of delay, when it is assumed that the enemy will be able to penetrate deep into the territory of our country, General Bonk estimates.

In this situation, if the enemy crossed the border, the operational units would stand at the established defensive line, and the delay lines from the border to the line of contact with the operational units would be provided by units of such a border guard corps. However, this is only a hypothesis, and General Tomasz Bonk believes that in the current situation, defense plans look very different.

- We proceed from the fact that our idea is to strengthen the eastern flank more and more, which means, first of all, the participation of the forces of other NATO countries and the permanent presence, basically I mean the permanent presence of American forces, which it’s about getting louder.
