The unity shown by the Ukrainians after the large-scale invasion came as a surprise to Putin and shattered his hopes of destabilization.
The fifth president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, stated this in an interview with Newsweek magazine.
He stressed that the common goal for all is the victory of Ukraine in the war and the establishment of peace.
Petro Poroshenko recalled that he met with President Zelensky at the beginning of the war and they reached an agreement on the importance of joining forces to fight the Russian aggressor.
“We met and I said: “From now on, a blank sheet of paper. You are no longer the president, I am no longer the leader of the opposition. We are all soldiers,” Poroshenko said.
“This unity surprised Putin, and surprised the world,” he added.
“Those two weeks when the danger was really high and when, unfortunately, a significant part of the parliament and government were outside Kyiv, we stayed here and these relations were strong from scratch,” the fifth president of Ukraine stressed.
At the same time, the publication recalled that in recent months, Poroshenko was banned from leaving the country twice.
“Now there are some “useful idiots” who want to attack, who want to play politics,” Poroshenko said.
“I find it very positive when, having the opportunity to either attack political opponents or attack Russian agents, the Ukrainian authorities attack Russian agents. This means that we can go further, and I keep my fists for the fact that the main priority is victory,” said the 5th President of Ukraine.
As reported, Petro Poroshenko handed over the H10 Poseidon Mk II drone system to the air assault troops. The complex was bought at the expense of the volunteers of the NGO Delo Gromad and the Poroshenko Foundation.
