Beware of fake physical therapists. There is a warning for patients.

Fake physical therapist? The National Chamber of Physiotherapists warns against this. In doing so, he advises patients on how to react and how to check whether the physiotherapist is qualified.

The problem of fake physiotherapists was noticed by the National Chamber of Physiotherapists (CIF). “There are situations when, for example, on the Internet, someone promotes their activities as physiotherapy. Sometimes it turns out that he does not have permission to do so. In order to protect the profession and, above all, to protect patients from such abuses, it is necessary to respond, ”the organization emphasizes.

Fake physiotherapist. How to find a specialist?

CIF provides patients with detailed instructions on how to check the competence of a physiotherapist and how to respond if fraud is suspected:

  • If you see that someone claims to be a physiotherapist, you have doubts whether activities entrusted only to physiotherapists are not being carried out without permission - check if they are included in the National Register of Physiotherapists (such a register is available on the CIF website);

  • If the person is not on the Register, try to provide evidence, such as keeping photos or videos of suspected individuals, taking screenshots of websites confirming your suspicions;

  • Submit a notification to the prosecutor’s office - directly or through the CIF.

National Health Foundation Physiotherapist

In a survey commissioned by BrainLab for CIF, one in three respondents indicated that the most difficult place to get to a physiotherapist was in the public health sector (33%). For comparison, a dentist was indicated by 27%, and a general practitioner by 13%. According to 80 percent of respondents, it is most difficult to get to a specialist doctor.

– The results of the survey surprised us very much, because physiotherapy has outstripped dentistry, which has been limited to the maximum in the state system for many years. We do not want and cannot allow the same to happen to physical therapy, and it is only available to patients who can afford it. Physiotherapy improves the quality of life and fitness in many areas and should be a new, important challenge for Poles on their way to “long life planning”, says Dr. Tomasz Dybek, president of the National Council of Physiotherapists.
