I have worked in the news industry for over 10 years. I have a deep understanding of how the news industry works and how to get information out to the public. I am also an author at Daily News Hack, where I mostly cover health news. I have a keen interest in health and fitness, and I firmly believe that knowledge is power when it comes to taking care of your body. I want to help people live healthier lives by sharing my knowledge with them, and LinkedIn is the perfect platform for me to do that.

– A patient from a small village or a district town has the right to access the same quality services as a resident of a voivodship agglomeration with a large hospital offering comprehensive treatment, emphasizes prof. Adam Maciejczyk, Chairman of the National Council of Oncology.

Alexandra Krawchik, “Wprost”: You supported this idea for several years National Cancer Networkwhich aims to improve the quality of oncological care in Poland. About a dozen days ago, a draft law on this issue was submitted for discussion by the Seimas. There were political disputes and questions about the meaning of implementing the proposed solutions. Tell me, please, why do we need this network at all?

prof. Adam Macieczyk: I have been watching the Polish healthcare system for too long not to notice the obvious facts. Polish oncology needs reform. It is managed chaotically, and care for cancer patients is dispersed. A simple example: in one hospital, a cancer patient is operated on, in another, radiation therapy is performed, and in a third, chemotherapy.

Hospitals do not see each other, do not cooperate, do not offer complementary services on an agreed basis. The patient is completely lost in this system.

Often, for example, after an oncological operation, he is discharged home and disappears from the field of view of doctors. There is no responsibility for the entire treatment cycle.

And the answer to that is to centralize the system?

I don’t like the word centralization. In any case, we can talk about this in the context of the fact that the patient should be at the center of the system.
